UK based Korbian, whom we introduced a few weeks ago has been pretty busy in the last few weeks releasing one variant of funk laced laid back awesomeness after another. He seems to be in a great mood too and is giving away a couple of tracks for free, only to spread the joy. Additionally his latest release with VSR records is due on the the 6th of May and here is a partial sample track from that release :

All the very best with this to Korbain!
After that bit of loungey tech house, here is my favourite piece of work by him in the last couple of weeks. Moved every time, has a lot going for it. Deep deep house, great synths and super work on the percussion. You can meditate to it or dance to it or let it play in the background while you do something Mondayne on a Tuesday. Yippey yah yei, Schweinebacke (i know the original, the german one is somehow cuter), this will uplift you! Not quite in ways that Bruce Willis intended, but mostly that’s a good thing:

And now to add a bit of sauciness to the proceedings, the next one is called desire. Some might call it the root cause of sorrow, but then they wouldn’t know what to do tommorrow! This is more garagey and makes you move instantly and can be downloaded for free like the previous one. Lust it out and lap it up:

SPC ECO : Push (EP)

UK based father daughter duo ‘SPC ECO’ (pronounced Space Echo) comprising Dean Garcia (formerly Curve, Eurythmics) and Rose Berlin have released their latest EP titled Push. This is a funky, noir, dimension altering, space skewing piece of work which is in one word best described as layered. Like a trifle pudding or a shepherd’s pie, based on your preferences for the sweet or salty, there is much to cherish and bite into. The base lines are solid, rhythms catchy, the programming and percussions are top notch and Rose has such a damningly evocative/seductive voice, that these songs are orgasmic in themselves or alternatively offer perfect background music for such dopamine releases! Go afro in the sac with this aphrodisiac or in one word ‘Push’ ;):

Space Echo usually collaborate with many artistes for their EPs and on this particular one they feature and thank:
Jarek Leskiewicz for his shimmering guitars and Slade Templeton Electronica on Push (Lady Barcelona) Remix. If you like what you hear, purchase this EP for a very attractive price on bandcamp: http://spceco.bandcamp.com/album/push-ep

Det mekaniska undret: Olika Sidor Av Staden, Sockerbruket

Swedish musician Andreas Österberg who goes by the name of Det mekaniska undret, came up with the novel and unexplored question : What do people listen to when they travel by public transport?. This was the inspiration for him to create a music album based on the route covered by Tram 11 in his city Gothenburg, which has the most extensive tram network in Scandinavia. The concept is great and the execution even better. Each station on the track gets a sing and some also get a video. As is with every city, every neighbourhood or every phase of the journey has a distinctive mood or flavor which has been beautifully captured by Andreas’s music. I cannot follow the vocals, as I don’t understand Swedish, but if you ever needed an example of music being free from the barriers of language, this is your album A sample of the music on offer in the album:

The whole video-playlist for the album is there on youtube and can be viewed by clicking:

The whole album is there for listening on soundcloud and the videos/music/artwork can all be downloaded legit for free from: http://23seconds.org/063.htm

All this happened a year ago, but more recently Andreas has come up with a shoegazy track called Sockerbruket. This is strikingly different from his earlier work and kicks serious arse. It starts off slowly with a delayed oscillating buildup and then the drums kick in at the perfect instant followed by the bare essential distorted vocal sounds. This then leads us to the part where the flangey guitar/high-pitched piano comes in and as a final addition to complete this flavorsome recipe, we have the wonderful garnishing of the keyboards. I especially liked the part where after the drop the song changes texture and then ends with a wonderful screechy sound. Enough said, listen and enjoy:

Hiatus & Shura: Lionesque

This song is just so beautiful, melancholic, sexy, brilliant and many more adjectives only trying to appreciate its surreal charm. Words can’t do justice but the image above (with a few words) partially reflects my true feelings about this! On my 6th repeat now and am not remotely tired of it, sigh!

Slow Hands – Cameo Culture (Parts of you and I)

Slow Hands is back with as many as 7 new tracks today! Feel like I’ve won the superlotto! I like a lot of music but amongst the digital slo-mo genre I rate Slow Hands as a cut above the rest, like I rate Pink Floyd compared to music as a whole. This time the track that has caught my attention the most or almost is the remix of Parts of You and I by Cameo Culture. Cameo Culture is an accomplished musician in his own right, an Australian Native who now lives in Brooklyn and creates electronic sexiness from time to time. So here it is:

And that’s not all that rocks about the 7 tracks posted today, visit the soundcloud page for many more gems like :

PS: Best enjoyed on stuff that delivers high quality audio like the earphones featured above. Yeah, Dr Dre is paying me too ;).

Lilu’s Song

Perfect End to an imperfect day! Well not so much imperfect, but lets say ‘less than ideal’! I woke up mildly hungover and realised that my house looks like a wreck, second only to countries destroyed by superpowers looking for WMDs. So as a good citizen I got down to action and after 7 hours of ordeal, I can finally sit back and relax. But then, when you discover such gems like Lilu’s Song by Zefora, you know it has been a good day. All is well that ends well! But when the beginning, intermediate and final sections of an Odyssey make every pore on your skin relax and induce a happy dreamy state without any Mary Jane on offer, you know you have uncovered Stupendosity. Spas might be out of business and the world might be a peaceful place, courtesy:

Towers (Slow Hands)

This is just the best song to have come out in quite a while! Slow Hands has come up with this super cover of the song Towers by Bon Iver. Truth be told this more of a redux than a simple ‘Cover’, like Slow Hands aka Josh puts it modestly in the song title and something I have curiously missed including in the title of this blogpost. So have a listen, download it for free while its available , and feel the summer vibe coming on!

Trippy Tropical Lounge

Image

This week’s post is dedicated to one of favourite digital musicians of today: Goldroom. Goldroom is actually Josh Pegg from LA and specializes in originals, remixes and mixes. The music is distinctive in a way that I can say, its Goldroom’s work but in no way is it repititive. The image in my head that usually associates itself with the sound of Goldroom’s music is ‘chilling around on a beach, not taking a dip, soaking in the sun and the sand but yet there is some inherent melancholic longing at the back of your mind’..

Without further ado, here are couple of my favourites:

Originals:

Morgan’s Bay:

Remixes:

We can dance – Lancelot

Red Light – Gigamesh

If you like what you hear, don’t forget to follow the artiste on soundcloud and like his facebook page :D!
